A Series of Threes

Ok, they say bad luck comes in threes. Alright then, we've had our three. Not to make light of any of it, but I sure hope this is it.

Last week, Johnny indeed get home from the hospital. Yay. But in turn, my brother-in-law was admitted. Kidney stones. Ouch. Seems things went ok there, with much pain, I'm afraid. Poor guy.

He phoned us, which I thought was to fill us in on his malady, but that wasn't it at all. My father-in-law had just been admitted to the hospital after suffering from a stroke. The doctors have been going back and forth on how serious it was for two days. Then, as fast as he was admitted, he was released. Thank God. It doesn't seem to be a full-blown one.

The hub is on his way up to NY in the morning to help out at the house with whatever is needed. He had a flight out today; but after dropping him off and arriving back home, he called to tell me the flight was cancelled. To tell you the truth, after hearing that another brother stepped in tonight, I was glad to have him home another evening. The poor guy is dead tired.

He only got home Friday after being away all last week (and being sick on top of it). He even tried to get into the ER two nights in a row in Texas because he had his tonsils acting up. The last time he had this ailment, the doctors almost had to lance one tonsil after the infection got so bad after only a few days. They were so swollen, he could barely swallow. (Ew.) He thought he would nip it in the bud and get a fat antibiotic shot in the butt only to find people waiting outside just to get into the ER. What in the {bleep} is happening to our country? Lord have mercy. My poor father-in-law lay in the ER for two days because there weren't any rooms for him. WHA??????

(RANT ON) I tell you, if Americans don't follow this election closely, we are truly going to hell in a hand basket. We're already there, if you ask me. We HAVE to get our heath care back on track in this country. (RANT off) Ok, deep breath.

It's difficult watching our parents age and all that comes with that. But then, we're not getting any younger either. I suppose this is the next stage in adulthood. I don't like it much. I'm hoping the threes had their go of it and our family is now on the mend.

I wonder if people are going to ERs so much because they don't have insurance for regular doctor visits? I have to say that I like the Socialized Medicine here in France. Of course, our taxes are awful.

I totally agree with your rant. Life has changed so much in the last few years...It is frightening to see what we are going to have to deal with next.

Hope things calm down for you and your family.
Hugs,
Pearl

I'm with you...this new stage of life is not as fun as the last one. I think I'd like a time machine to go back ten years somedays. Both my parents are sick with bronchitus and it is so so sad to see them depreciating...breaks my heart because they have always been sooooo strong and such positive thinkers.
Such is life...can't change it, just have to go with the flow...
Hope your luck changes this week!

Hi Rosy ~ Sorry to hear about all the illness! Glad to hear everyone is on the mend. The health care system absolutely has to change! These big bank (that are on the verge of going under....) CEO get billions and run! I bet if it was their family not being able to get a bed in the hospital, or waiting 12 + hours to be seen in the ER they'd be paying for private care. It stinks! The doctor's are mad as hell too. I just hope everone is on the mend and pray that a family member can be to help. Miss ya gf! XXOO ~ Aim
P.S. Hank won 2nd on Sat (Giant Salom) and 4th on Sunday (Salom). YEA!!!

Yikes. You are being hit by the bad-vibe bug. Well, I'm sending my good vibes your way for all family members to be healed and strong in short order. But oh, the concern...

Gosh, must be something in the air, I'm getting bad news from all over as well...
By the way, it doesn't matter where you look, health is THE major crisis. Same here in the UK, not enough doctors, dentists etc, but still hospital wards closing and pay cuts ( these guys work 16 hrs in a row for goodness sake!!!).

Similar story in France ( system is part national health, part private payments by the patient) - they had it coming from the word go, the national social health care system is now 12 billion euros in the red! technically, it remains a lot faster to get seen in A&E, although routine ops can take months of waiting as well.
I'd love to see a preventative system, where everyone would have a real check up every year rather than a "come when you're really sick" approach.

Your family has had a lot to think about, lately. I am glad that things are woking out and improving. I hope that your husband will feel much better soon.
I am glued to the election news, and agree that health care is a priority issue. In a nation that stands for human rights, the thought of anyone being denied health care for any reason, is a true shame, to me.

Yikes! You've sure had your share of things happening lately. I'm just glad everyone is ok, and I hope they remain that way.

Getting older is sure a lot different than I expected! So far so good. But I must agree with you about the health care in this country....we have to do something about it. It's almost inhuman!!
