This-n-That

First of all, I have to send out warm thanks to those who picked me as a winner in One World--One Heart. A big thank you to Tricia for the sweet baby boy plaque. I think I'll put it in the teenager's new room. You think he'd appreciate it? Actually, it will more-than-likely end up in my bedroom as I have baby stuff in there. Isn't it precious! And speaking of bedrooms, look at what Sonia made. I never enjoyed eye masks when I was younger, but now I've come to appreciate them. Does that mean I'm getting old or just getting too fancy for my own britches? Either way, I adore this one. Thank you Sonia!

I finally got my OWOH winnings out to Linda Sue. I hope she doesn't see this post and I ruin it for her. The package is supposed to arrive on Monday. I enjoyed getting it ready for her and am so happy that this finally made me finish up last year's pysanky just in time to begin anew this Lent. I don't even know if I will make any.

I mentioned earlier in the week the hub had made some flounder for his and the kid's dinner. Ew. (I'm still traumatized!) Doesn't he know a watched pot never boils? The kid snapped this while he was cooking. I love when the kid takes pictures and I find them later when I download.

Another kid snap.

After the fish incident, the hub and I went to the pub around the corner for dinner a couple of nights this week. It was fun to get away by ourselves (no kids allowed in the pub--as it should be!). We're like two old souls going in at early-bird hours. ha.

I got all my paperwork done early in the week. My trusty old sidekick is never too far from my side. Thank you Bella for keeping things straight for me.

But, I've really been busy making baby bibs for a new nephew arriving home tomorrow! How exciting for my SIL and BIL! Yay! I will fill you in more once the magical moment arrives and I hear more myself.

Who knew that I could sew? Well, to tell you the truth, it takes a big momentous occasion to get me to bring my dad's old sewing machine out. And, of course, this is quite exciting! It's been about four years since we've had a baby in the family!

I had some fabric left over from my last batch way back when but, of course, I had to find some wonderful boy fabric to use for this new arrival. I just love making baby bibs. Well, sometimes.

What are you all up to? Any big plans for the weekend??? I think ours will be nice and quiet, as usual.

Winner!

Ok, I'm finally getting caught up. Well, a little anyway. I took all the responses to my One World, One Heart giveaway, deleted the comments, kept the names and added them to Excel--as Lisa suggested. Wow. That took some time just removing the comments!

Then I did the Random.org number generator. Out of 389 comments, it chose No. 71. Number 71 is Linda Sue of All I Ever Wanted. I am thoroughly enjoying reading her blog as she seems to be as random as I am when it comes to posting. I like that.

After I posted my surprise giveaway entry, I quickly decided that I was going to give away one of my pysanka. I had finally finished them from last spring, almost a year after the fact; and I thought they were different enough to give away.

So, Linda Sue, you may pick one from the above picture. I pulled out my nicest ones. I hope you like one of them to have as your own.

This sure was a big year for OWOH! What a turnout. Congrats Lisa. And a big thank you for organizing and sponsoring. You're the bestest.

One World * One Heart

And, they're off! Lisa, a Whimsical Bohemian, is once more hosting her baby "One World, One Heart" giveaway which introduces folks from across the globe to one another. I was a participant last year, and it was great fun and I met a lot of wonderful artsy people. It's an amazing turnout.

Here's the deal. If you comment here on this post, on this one only, you will be entered to receive a little something from me. Last year, I actually pulled three names, while Bella policed the scene. Not quite sure how many I will pull this year.

Again, since I am notoriously a "wait 'til the last minute" kinda gal, it will be a surprise as to what I'll send. I don't believe my recipients have ever been let down though. At least, I hope not.

So, off with you. Sign up here and click on the link (or HERE) to see who else is participating. Maybe even YOU want to get involved and give something away.

The deadline for comments is February 12. And you don't have to be a participant to enter!

Now, shoo!

One World-One Heart Winnings

I tell you what, all of the fancy schmancy goody bags given away at all the award ceremonies in Los Angeles have nothing over OW-OH goody boxes! Oh my.

I won two out of the millions of blogs I visited during the One World-One Heart extravaganza. Not bad odds, eh? hehe. I was so excited to win and now am completely beside myself at what these two wonderful blogs gave away.

This weekend, I received the lovely necklace and earrings made by Angela over at Funky Cat Studio. I had seen the necklace on her blog before and loved it; but the earrings were just thrown in! The necklace is perfect for Riverside with the lovely shell piece. What a wonderful surprise! Thank you so very much Angela. They are so much fun!

Yesterday, our mail didn't come until some time last night. Go figure. I wonder what in the world is going on there? The hub must have gone out this morning before leaving for work and brought it in. Because, when I came downstairs, there was this box sitting on the table for me! Squeal! It's from our sweet Kai over at Kai Blue Creations! Yahoo!

I started opening it and peeling away the layers. What a LOVEFEST, I tell you!

Will you just take a look at what was stuffed into this box! I had a friend over while I opened it and we just giggled and oooh'd and aaww'd the entire time. The first picture at the beginning of this post of the pretty little purse! There were little jewels and flowers and stars and pearls and shells tucked throughout the box! How magical! And then there were the sweet little sayings everywhere.

Look at all the artsy goodies! The little oval pieces are actually pens! I can't wait to whip one out from my purse and get a reaction. They are too much fun!

Kai, I can tell by everything, you knew exactly what I like, right down to the kitty stuff. In fact, I had that exact hot pad for many years and I just threw it away as it was all stained with grease and stuff just this past winter! I swear! How incredible is that? Pretty darn incredible.

Thank you ladies, from the bottom of my heart for all of my goodies. And a big thank you, again, to our Lisa for hosting such an awesome and fun event. I can't tell you how many kind souls I have met this year.

Yay!

One World - One Heart Winners!

We've been sitting around all day waiting for the kid to get home.

Well, not really just sitting around.

Bella put on her Policeman's hat and supervised as I carefully printed all the names. She jumped on each piece as it flew out of the printer. Abby was there to assist in the mayhem. Quite the opposite of Bella, Abby held her ground as papers flew.

Yes, you can click on the photos to get a better view of the frivolity.

Dave watched the doors to make sure the place was secure.

And then we proceeded to cut each name. Bella was front and forward, the others spread out like a police line at a protest.

The kid finally made it home. But Bella would have nothing to do with his pulling the first name out. And so, I kid you not, Bella picked Fabulous Finds Studio! We had to literally chase her down to find out who the big winner was. Finally caught her under the table. Congratulations Julie!

Bella finally allowed the kid to pick a name. He pulled non-other than the Quiltmoose! Congratulations Dagmar!!

And, last but not least, as fast as you could say "Dave picked a dally of daisies" Dave pulled out dear Miss Vandroo's name! Congrats to Martha!

Now comes the fun part. Waking up all the faeries to help me with some special items to send to three lovely ladies. Ok, eyes closed, I'm snapping my fingers three times and whispering the following until I hear some scurrying:

Wake up little faeries, there's much to do
Three kind ladies
are waiting for you.

So open your eyes
and stretch those limbs
bring out that faerie dust
and let's begin!

I'm almost afraid to open my eyes. When those little fellows wake up, they're known to be a tad grumpy. They seem to have been asleep for a while since nothing has been been made here for quite a while. Will keep you posted on the magic.

Again, congrats to Julie, Dagmar and Martha. They were pulled out of 133 names. And a big thank you to Lisa for pulling all this together. I truly look forward to visiting so many of the new blogs I found through this wonderful event and making new friends.

One World, One Heart Event

Giveaways! Giveaways! That should get everyone's attention.

Lisa, over at Heart of the Nest is starting up her second annual One World, One Heart giveaway extravaganza again this year. Everyone in the blogging community is welcome to join in all the fun. I think I missed out last year and just did my own giveaway after it was all said, done and over with. Leave it to me to be behind. I'm not an early bird kinda person.

But, with all that being said, I am trying to be a little more organized this year. So, I thought I would go ahead and post about it, advertise a little and get as many people together in this blog world. It's a nice way to get to know new people.

I will post this again on February 13 and pick a name (perhaps even two as my record shows) on February 14 from both posts. Also, Lisa says you have to have a blog in order to put your name into the hat. Them's the rules.

I don't know what I will give away yet, depends on where the hub will be traveling and what he will be bringing home (last year was Belgian chocolate). Perhaps only local things will go into a goody box. Something homemade, maybe? Depends on who wins and what I learn about them in this fun process. Who knows. Three weeks is a long way away, for me anyway.

Click *here* to see who is giving away and more info if you are interested in doing your own giveaway for One World, One Heart. C'mon, you all know it's better to give than it is to receive. Let's see how many folks we can get involved! Spread the word.

All you really have to do is put your name in the comment thingy. I always enjoy meeting the new folks that visit that I haven't met yet. That's the point in all of this.

Ok, now off with you! Let's get this thing rollin'!
