The hub made it home safely from Chicago, and we are just about to kick it back and start the weekend. Sigh. Such is the life.
We had another busy day, the kid and I. My feet are tired tonight. We walked up and down the hills of the old city at least four times. Time for some advil.
Started out kinda late as mentioned so we started our day with a sandwich and a baby quiche by the lake. The kid enjoyed feeding the birds, as always. The lake is so tranquil as is the river flowing into/out of it. This is
the hotel we stayed at the last time I came here with the hub over 17 years ago. It was purchased by the Four Seasons, so I suppose we'll never see the likes of those rooms again! Wow.
Then, we headed up the hills to the old part. I found some lovely items that I'm bringing home, some carved wood garland that will look quite nice in my bedroom. It's very expensive here, so I don't buy a whole lot. I do, however, enjoy every moment of window shopping. These pieces were over 800 francs each! Ouch.
(sideways, I know, but I'm not fighting with blogger any longer!)
For dinner, we ate at The Fatted Pig (I believe). I ordered the goat cheese salad and Lyonese (sp?) sausage with potato salad. Sooo good! Here's the dessert we all shared. Talk about the fatted pig!

We are heading to Brussels tomorrow morning, so I better hit the hay. Look forward to our last leg and relaxing with the hub a little. He is finally finished with business!
These are some beautiful door knockers, obviously. The fountain is one of many in the old part.
This is the first day the kid and I were able to sleep in. You can see why I wanted to! Is this bed not gorgeous? I feel like a queen!
We are off to walk in the old part of Geneva. We ate dinner here. It is one of the hub's favorite places. They open at 7 p.m. and you wait in line to get a table. All they serve is steak and fries. Period. It has a butter sauce on the steak that is to die for. The inside has beautiful old French posters (quite large)that my sister-in-law would adore. Of course, I forgot my camera, but I hope to go by today and get some shots! After dinner, we walked through the old town and I eyed some wonderful shops to visit in my quest today.
Here are some flower arrangements from a little shop in Zurich. We bought the little rose bouquet in the center (orange and multi-colored dark red roses). So creative and lovely, I couldn't resist taking these pics. Enjoy.

We left Zurich this morning around 11 via train. It was a beautiful ride and lulled me to sleep, as usual. I did take a few shots if I opened an eye and saw something pretty. Sorry for the reflection. If I'm not mistaking, I believe the pic on the left is nearer to Bern, Switzerland, the second is on Lake Geneva in Lausanne--looks like grape vineyards. My spellings may be wrong, but please bear with me. I don't have the time to look it up. It was about 2 1/2 hour ride. Just beautiful.
Here are some pics from the hotel. The cash register is in the lobby,
the furniture is outside our room, so petite and pretty.
This painting is just outside our door.
The perfumes were in our bath. (And I can wear them without sneezing, amazing.)
Oh, and yes, the fireplace is in our room.
The door knob is going into one of our closets. I am in heaven! I've even opened my bag and hung some things up. We have been on such a whirlwind, it's been too much of a hassle to do more than open the case and pull something out to wear and then close it again for the next leg. It's nice that we have a couple of days here to catch our breaths.©Living as Rosa Designed by Rosa
