Such memories warm my heart.

Piecemeal

I've been working a little in the girls' room. This week, I worked on painting an old chandelier I had laying around that I had never really used. It was black, so I spray painted it off white to add to the white-on-white motif.

Little by little.  I have until just before Thanksgiving to finish, so I'm not really in any rush.  Just taking my time.

Thank You

Thanks for your input on the kinda-new layout of my photos when I post.

Blogger has changed once again, and I'm finding it challenging to lay them out correctly. What a pain. I wanted to know what you all thought of it.

Thanks for taking the time to let me know.

**As I get ready to post this, I note BLOGGER has changed back to its original photo options. **

Hmmmmmm.

Riverside Dishes

Darlene had found this gorgeous set at thrift store in Fairhope.  She phoned me to tell me about them.  They were perfect for the place.  Even have a little frog on the back side.

I didn't know if they would still be there when I arrived.   They were, obviously.

Fifty bucks for the set, again thanks to Darlene.  Are they not perfect?  (Yes, I put them in the dishwasher causing the crackle.)

Love them even more.

Yesterday and Today

Boo boo central. (don't look below if you're squeamish)

Yep, that be my knee.  {small rant ON}  And it's all because of Walmart.  I despise Walmart.  I avoid Walmart like the plague.  Of course, I have been in them.  Several times, in fact.  But between yesterday and today, I've hit four in total. {small rant OFF} Hmmmmm.  Why does my blood look so pink?  Wonder if that's a good thing or a bad thing.  Will have to Google it.

Ok, the reason why we had to hit so many Walmart's is this thing.  A dehumidifier.  I scanned Consumer Reports to see which was best for our "problem."  I may, or may not, have mentioned it; but we had a leak back in May from a water filter in the infamous kitchen.  We were lucky enough to catch it early on, but we still  lost about 8 square feet of ceiling/dry wall in mom's kitchen below.  Long story short, I think we may have some mold.  I began wondering if this could be the cause of my recent horrific allergies.  Consumer Reports rated this model high.  Problem was, it is only sold at Walmarts'.  And only some Walmart's.  The above wound came from parking lot No. 3 @Walmart.  Evil grin.

Some good did come from it.  We found a wonderful bbq joint.  Not really a joint, per se, it was really very nice.

They have places in both Tennessee and Alabama.  So, aren't we lucky?

 The hub's platter!

And then my, sniffle, smoked turkey samwhich.  But, it was wonderful in all honesty.

Then home to some wonderful afternoon thunder storms (which I will miss if we move).  I played around a little in the kitchen.

I'm thinking the air is already a tiny bit better.  Fingers' crossed.

Dishes in the Sink

Hub is away, so there are dishes in the sink.

But, these dishes are so pretty sitting there,  in their own pretty way.

All Better

Well, not all better, but this helps.

I woke up this morning with a little bit of a clearer head. Still have a headache, but I can function with that.

Hmmmm, I wonder why I'm not losing any weight on this diet?

"Algies"

"Algies."  I got 'em.

So bad, my vertigo is flaring up.  Not good.

So bad, my Zyrtec doesn't even touch it.  I'm now on Benadryl.  And you know what Benadryl does.

I'm so hopped up on Benadryl, I somehow lost my check card yesterday.  Between the bank and home.  Go figure.  Doy.

Had to call the bank and cancel the card.

Which means I have to call all my auto-pay peeps and change the number, once it arrives.

Oy.

Think I'll go back to sleep.

J&E -- Yearly Visit to Riverside

My brother Jim called me on Friday and said to meet him at Riverside on Sunday. The kid and I were hitting the road on Saturday. It's peach season in Alabama, which means I stop off at Durbin Farms on the way in and pick up lotsa Chilton County peaches! My faves are the white ones. Oh so delicate.

I made Peach Sangria. Good, but I prefer Jim's red Sangria. It was much better after it sat for a full 48 hours.

And peach crumble. Yum.

We ate breakfast at the Foley Coffee Shop.

Made New Orleans' style BBQ Royal Reds.

Rescued a butterfly on the porch.

And stayed up too playing and laughing.

Before we knew it, it was time to head back home. Two days? Not enough! Miss them. What a wonderful way to end the summer.

Today's Blog post is brought to you by the color Orange.(I'm afraid this may just be a picture of my hair--oooooooof!   Thanks kid.)

Home Again, Home Again

Freshly home from Riverside where my brother Jim and SIL Ellen came down for a few days. It was the perfect way to say goodbye to our summer.

We had a wonderful time, of course. Once I download my photos, I will share more.

School starts today for the kid. Ugh. Poor guy.

SCATTERED POSTS WARNING

I am still trying to get all my European trip photos posted along with posts on Riverside while I'm here.

Please hold on as I go back and forth between the two. I'm sure it's all nonsensical at this point, but please bear with me.

I will post them all together once I've finished the posting.  It will help me, anyway.

Riverside, Again?

I love this picture in so many ways. First of all, the kid took it. From the front seat. Through the windshield. And, it's perfect. Aw, the beauty in Alabama. When I drive these roads, I'm just in a happy place. How can you not with such country splendor all around you? This was taken last week when we were returning home from Riverside. The clouds were absolutely brilliant.

My brother Jim and my SIL are meeting us back down south for a couple of days before the kid goes back to school next Thursday! Can you even believe it, school? So, it will only be three days to eat --haha-- catch up and relax. A quick sprint to Riverside and back. They are tootling around the South while the girls are at camp. How fun does that sound? The hub doesn't like to "tootle," so we normally go straight from point A to point B. But, we get to where we're going faster, which is fine these days!

Ahhhhhh, I was just catching up here in Nashville!

Red Hot in Nashville

For the past seven days, the temperatures here have been in the 100s or slightly below. Hmmmmm. Pretty darn hot.

A big thank you to Linda on the river who brought by a jar of canned marinara sauce when we were there. Mmmmmm.

Hope everyone is staying cool these hot, August afternoons.

Color My World--Pinky

Here I am redoing the teenager's room, once more. The kid never really did like it, said the paint had a schmere of pink in it. Mmmmk. I thought it was quite the taupe, myself. At any rate, he has moved back into his old room--all we have to do is replace the carpet with wood at some point, and boom, done.

And, so, as I've said before, this is now going to be the "girls' room." Since I have eight nieces, and two that visit several times a year, I'm doing it up dainty and sweet. I've always loved the white-on-white but with some color thrown in.

So, I'm getting this and that together to finish it off. Well, I do have to get mattresses for the beds, in order to really finish it off.

Beth and Janet gave me these gorgeous pieces, and I'm going to frame them for the walls. Love them!

I found these two linen-covered side chairs and this great white pillow to match. Love the wool felt.

And speaking of felted wool, looky at what I found at Liberty of London when I was there! I am SO loving these colors!

Today, these two pillows showed up from Thrifty Miss Priss' Etsy shop! How perfect are they with the linen chairs?

Or even the old rocking chair from a dear friend. It is from her Lake Charlevoix, MI cottage. Sigh.

Of course, Bella has to inspect the "new."

I haven't yet decided how I'm going to arrange the room. With the two beds against the windows (which will have to have different curtains now), we get this wonderful openness when you walk in to the room with my brothers' chest of drawers in the corner.

The two wool throws are from Dublin (Avoca) and Edinburgh (Ness). Love them! The little doggy sachet is from London from years ago. I knew he would end up somewhere pretty.

We went and celebrated the teenager's 21st birthday this weekend in Knoxville. Awwwww. Someone hand me a tissue, please. Ok, ok, I'd settle for a piece of that cake. (BACK on diet here!) Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooof.
