Afternoon Tea

Way back when, a life time ago it seems, we were in San Francisco. Remember that? ha. Well, yes, I'm continuing to post about it. And here's one of the highlights of the entire trip.

Val and I met up for afternoon tea at Crown & Crumpet. It was as delightful as it looks. Probably even more so, if you ask me.

I promise.

C&C is a delight to walk in to, nonetheless sit and have tea. With a special friend? Even better. Sneak in under the radar, priceless.

There were all kinds of colorful and flavorful candies.

Something for everybody. And then some.

Not to mention eye candy. Everything had its spot.

Cath Kidston linens. And you know how I feel about CK.

So civilized. Dainty finger sandwiches.

Scones and crumpets. With all the fixin's.

And little sweets for our hearts' content.

Tea for two. We sat for hours.

With our special sugar charms. An absolutely charming afternoon, indeed.

And today, my replication.

Divine Marie Antoinette tea. Val chose this one, and what a choice it was. Almost melon flavored and pure delight.

With sugar charms, of course.

Speaking of tea, who's anxiously awaiting the new Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland film with JD opening next weekend? I sure am! I'm feeling a little better these days. Cleansing the body is a good thing. I definitely feel the difference.

San Francisco Baby

We made it fine into San Francisco. Yea! It was nice to just have a denim jacket on rather than the whole array of layers you needed in Canada! As I had already mentioned, it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would have been after the bombing attempt on Christmas day. Canadian/US Customs was pretty organized considering all kinds of new security measures.

We checked into the W and if you turned your room numbers over, you had a fortune and lucky numbers! How cool is that! Only at The W! This was the boys' room.

I loved the Asian flair.

And the foot massager!

Not to mention the beautiful quilt throws.

And the view.

After settling in for a bit, we asked the concierge where to have dinner close by. They told us to go to the Town Hall restaurant, a short walk away. It was absolutely PERFECT!

First we had drinks.

My favorite was the Dorothy Parker, minus the sugar rim. Mmmmm.

Between the four of us, we all "shared" the BBQ Shrimp, Veal Meatballs, Buttermilk Biscuits with Country Ham and Fried Oysters to begin. Yep. Gluttons! Our main courses were Pork Tenderloin with Crispy Belly, Nantucket Bay Scallops and a NY Strip Steak. We were all in heaven.

And for dessert, we had Pot de Creme with a butterscotch topping and a chocolate bombe. Ooooooof! Gonna have to tell my brother Jim about this little addition on top!

Coffee was well needed by this point!

I loved the way the bill was brought out tucked in a book.

I can't tell you how many times we all rubbed Buddha's belly.

He changed colors and was way too cool.

And this was our view as I fell asleep in San Francisco!
I LOVE San Fran!

We're Home!

I'm missing so much I found on our trip. I did, however, have enough sense to bring a small loaf of sourdough home with us which we enjoyed today. I hardly even remember yesterday. We were lucky to have one of the first flights out of San Fran and all of our flights, the entire trip, were on time. Overall, we were very fortunate when it came to our travel days. Cannot complain, one bit.

We came home to a very cold Nashville. The heat has been upped and I've even put a pot of water on the stove for a little humidity. That is rarely needed in these parts. I've also been told that Riverside is very cold and our friend has stopped by to turn the heat on there and even have the faucets dripping. Ouch. I plan on a trip down soon to check up on the place. I never was able to properly closer her up before leaving in October. It all seems like so long ago, yet then again it doesn't.

Bella wanted nothing to do with any of us but has since calmed down. I know she doesn't like the gent who stays here while we're away. Poor boo. It only took a couple of hours before she trusted us again though. Looks like either Dave or Abby swiped her nose. I'm sure she deserved it. She can be so vicious to them and momma wasn't here to protect her. lol

I'm happy to be back at home; although the trip was truly magical, and I do miss being in San Francisco and Lake Louise. I suppose that's why there were very few posts. Who wants to blog when there's a big, beautiful world out there to explore? But coming home always reminds me of how fortunate I am--with loving friends, old and new, and a family who has always been my biggest fans. Who could ask for anything more?

I have so much to share, so many photos. Little by little, I'll get to them I suppose.

Looking forward to a wonderful new year. Wishing love, happiness and health to you all.

Blessings.
