Dinner at Tiffany's

Now, you know it's bad when you receive a special catalog from Tiffany's (that has a price list separate from the catalog) in the mail! Yowza.

Yes, I admit, I have purchased gifts from Tiffany's, especially for wedding presents and good teacher's gifts. I don't ever remember getting anything for myself. (My brother and the hub occasionally spoil me with little Tiffany items.) You used to be able to get a key chain for about $30-$40, a glass paperweight for around $50. I don't know if you can still do that because since moving to Nashville, I haven't had the luxury of running in to buy a gift. That is, until now.

Uh huh, little ol' Nashvul' has opened up a Tiffany's, over in Green Hills, of course, which is right next to Belle Meade, of course, which is where all the really, really rich people live. I mean, really really rich.

I guess since I've been such a good customer over the years, hehe, they sent me this fancy new catalog announcing the opening of their new store. (They also sent an invitation to the opening ceremonies--but I'd be way out of my league in that arena!)

So, tonight, I'm off to have Dinner at Tiffany's--that is, look through the luscious catalog while I nibble at my din din. It's the simple pleasures in life that make it fun, isn't it? The hub will cringe when he reads this post while in Beijing! ha. Might even bring a sweat to his brow. But, he knows I love page shopping (vs. window shopping of the past). So, it's all "gud."

I do the same thing here too. William is gone so much that when he is home I try to do the things he wants to get done and wait till he leaves to do the things I need. On the slide show if you will click on the frog in my slide it will take you to the site to make your own. Also I am having trouble getting on your blog sometimes. When I click to come here it boots me off the net completely. Robyn and some others are having the same problem.

Oh..that reminds me of one of the songs I listened to this afternoon from my playlist..Moon River. Holly Golightly sang it in the film, Breakfast at Tiffany's. I used to get catalogs from them and Neimans..but I guess since I never bought my tiarras there they stop sending them to me. ;)

What a pretty blog Rosa! I especially love the background of the flowering trees you use on it. Did you design those yourself?

I really loved your posts on the baby birds you found in your windowbox, so much so that I shared the image on my dream journal (whispering roses), hoping that's okay.

I'm so glad you came by my little blog, and I really look forward to coming back to yours : )

I sometimes wander into Louis Vuiton in Paris, especially since they opened a new store. It is unbelievably posh. They even had a special designer do up the elevator. I noticed, while channel surfing the other day, that one of Mariah Carey's videos was filmed there. I recognized a wall from there with their metal logo repeated over and over. The only thing I could afford would be a key chain but so far I've passed.

My sister sometimes buys me gifts from Tiffany for Christmas. I have a tea cup I just love...she's sooo good with gifts (her DH may say she's bad lol!) I know what you mean about page shopping, I do it with Cath Kidston and John Lewis, I just haven't reached Tiffany level yet...but there's still time.

I love to look through catalogs. Tiffany's sounds very fun.

Did you ever get Nieman Marcus Christmas Catalog? This is where you can buy someone an Island or Car or something outrageous.

Hugs,
Connie

Well it's hard to resist Tiffany's. My wedding ring came from Tiffany's in Paris, but the day we were going to choose it, I was so nervous, I had an upset stomach. And spent the entire time feeling sick, despite being confronted with an amazing array of diamond and platinum rings. Ha! Another time in Tiffany's, my daughter and husband insisted I try on a double-strand black pearl necklace (it was close to my birthday and we were looking at prospective gifts - the inexpensive ones). The necklace didn't suit my round face and it's a good thing, too - because the price tag, which I got a discreet glimpse of when the clerk removed the necklace - was 32,000 euros - about $36,000! Sigh. Tiffany is a place for dreams. My hub gave me a Tiffany's bracelet for Christmas (I picked it out), but I don't expect too many such gifts are ahead. They're just so wildly expensive. Hope you enjoyed your dinner at Tiffany's - bound to be better than breakfast! And you should go to that opening reception - at the very least, you'll have champagne and get to see beautiful things! :)

Hope you enjoy your catalogue shopping, there is nothing like a new catalogue in the post to browse. I am addicted to them. Get yourslef dressed up and go over to the opening, at least you will get a glass of champagne. xx

I love Tiffany's. When I went to NYC a few years ago I went there just to look around. I'll dress up out of respect for an occasion but for the most part I tend to be a "where my jeans don't take me, I won't go kind of a person." Most of the time, when I shop in stores that are considered "upscale" I'm overlooked, and rarely offered service. I was treated every bit as respectfully in my jeans and a sweater in Tiffany's than if I were wearing the most expensive designer clothes. I won't forget that.
