Sunday Doings

First of all, I have to put a shout out for Lottie, Beth's mom, as she is going in tomorrow morning for surgery on her back. Bethy is awefully worried and rightfully so. We worry about our mom's, don't we. So, please keep her in your thoughts tomorrow if you can.

I finally made my lasagna. Geesh Louise. I used the ATK's recipe with the boys' frozen sauce. They suggest using the noodles that you don't have to boil which I did. I have to admit that I have used them once before with a disastrous outcome. It had nothing to do with the noodles though. Well, sorta. To keep it short and simple, here it is.

It was Christmas Eve. Our next-door neighbor's mom, who's father was Italian and a professional chef (nice mix), made us some luscious bolognese sauce. I saved it for a special dinner. I found the noodles that didn't need to be cooked for the first time and they even came in it's own little tin pan. Well I used that little foil pan to cook this luscious lasagna in. When I went to pull it out of the oven, it flipped and SPLAT, it went all over the floor, with quite a sound I might add. And you know how hot lasagna is. It's a mess, either in the pan or on the floor. Of course, it was unsalvageable. My mom was with us and just as it was falling to the floor the hub was coming around the corner. We laugh about it now but mom would tell the story, "We all just sat there with our mouths wide open not knowing what to say. We were all in shock." lol. From that day onward, any caserole--whether it be in glass, metal or tin-- has a cookie sheet under it! Lord have mercy. Needless to say, we had Chinese that Christmas Eve. ha.

This was a really good recipe adding egg, parmesan, salt, pepper and fresh basil to the ricotta cheese filling. I think I'll stick with it.

My macro shot of the day is what we found Thursday morning. Yep, the cupcake icing had been invaded by aliens (cats) licking all the good stuff off. Blech. They have way since been tossed!

Looks Yum! I've got that book! Gotta try it! (How did the cats do with the icing? Any after effects?)

Good luck to Lottie, too!

I'm taking it that the five second rule doesn't apply at your house? Kittoies love butter don't they. Ours will eat a cube of it if we leave it out.
