Trying Times

My mom is in the hospital after what seems to be another baby stroke. She went in on Saturday and was doing much better until yesterday when she went into another deep sleep (my first warning sign at home) and will only open her eyes for a second and then fall back to sleep. As you can see here, she was doing wonderfully on Sunday.

She is being transferred today to a nursing facility for rehab and perhaps even long-term care. It utterly breaks my heart to see her in such a weakened condition. Visiting nursing homes on Monday was trying, to say the least. I'm hoping the one I chose is the best in the world for her. It is worrying me to death.

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

PS Happy birthday Hub!

Oh I'm so sorry, RoseMary. It is so hard to watch our parents suffer. My sweet Mama died in 1991---and was fairly healthy until the last year or so. It just hurts that we can't do anything for them ---other than to make sure they are comfy and not in pain. I'm sure you will find the right place for her.

My prayers are with you.
Hugs,
Betsy

lots of prayers and hugs heading your way. My heart breaks for you and the choices you will have to make. I think of Ms. Fran each time I see photos of your mom and it makes me smile. I know its going to be a hard road for you but know I am a email or a phone call away anytime you want to talk. Even in the middle of the night

I am saddened as you are and have had Mom in my prayers. She looks so happy in this picture. I wish that I were there to be with her and with you. Please be comforted to know that you have done the right thing and that Mom will get the care that she needs. She has been blessed to have you in her life and to take care of her. You have given her quality of life and you have to feel good about that. If there is anything I can do, please let me know. I can be down there in a heartbeat. I love both of you. Give Mom a great big hug for me...I miss her.

I am so sorry I have been so absent so I didn't know about this. I am so sorry to read your Mom is in hospital and may be in long term care. It is THE most difficult thing in the world to see them so vulnerable and want THE best care for them. I so know all that you are going through and it's stressful and heartbreaking and difficult. The best thing you can do is just be there and be her best advocate.
We mourn our parents when they're still here as the person they used to be becomes less and less. The best medicine I found with my Mom was to make her laugh as often as possible.....laughter IS good medicine.
I send you many hugs and strength,
Lisa

Hi Rosemary,

I'm so sorry to have been away from here for so long, and to return to this news about your beloved mom is sad for me. I wish you peace, and hope that the transition will happen as gracefully as is possible for your mom. There are never words enough to make times like this easier, but please know that I am sending much love, and good thoughts to you and your family.

xoxo
Lena
