Cooking with Crisco

Well, not really, but close 'nuf. I brought out my Country Cook's Cookbook (made by the same folks as America's Test Kitchen), and the kid decided upon Oven Fried Chicken. I've never tried this recipe, so I'll be interested in what the boys say.

As you can see, this has a tad of heat in it. Yum!

Bring it on!

It called for both home-made bread crumbs and corn flakes. Well, of course, I picked up rice flakes instead and had to go back to the store to get the right box. Leave it to me--always having to go back to the store.

It marinades as long as possible. In this case, it was in the fridge for a couple of hours. Should do the trick, I hope.

You then dredge it through the mixture and bake. It's smelling good. I'll get back a little later and let you know how it is. Spicy enough or not!

It was very good. Nice and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. You can taste the Tabasco but it's not really hot. Next time, I'll add a little seasoned salt to it. But overall, the recipe is a keeper!

Yum... I'll be there soon!!!! Save a breast for me!!! I think I can even smell it...

Guess I'd better go to the kitchen and find something to eat... Nothing sounds good after smelling your chicken.

Betsy

That looks so good. I love fried chicken-even if it's only crispy from being in the oven.
