Well, Not Quite Yet

There's not a whole lot going on around here. The countertop folks came in yesterday and made a template of the cabinets. The appliance guys came in today and put the trim work on the fridge. The kitchen lady also came by today to show me some corbels that are going under the shelf above the stove. Didn't like any of them. But, of course, I had a picture of what I had in mind. Simple in design. She had first picked out an ornate set in cherry. Now, mind you, I don't have a lick of cherry in this kitchen and it was so mismatched with the look I'm going for. That was way back when. Don't know what she was thinking. She now understands after seeing the kitchen today even in it's rough state. She told me she had been a little apprehensive on how my "vision" was going to turn out. Now she loves it. I can guarantee, it's not your typical Nashville kitchen, because there is a lot of dark wood used in kitchens down here. I want light and airy, classic vintage yet modern, comfy and not stuffy--you know, kinda like grandma's kitchen. It's getting there. The only ones absent recently are the kitchen guys themselves. The "dad" says there's only ten percent left to do. I say there's a lot more than that. There is still plumbing to do for the main sink, the dishwasher, the refrigerator, the small sink and the ice maker. All the pulls and knobs need to be put on, more dry-walling, installation of the stove hood, at least one more coat of paint on the walls, more electrical above the island, the island top needs to be installed, tiling--should I keep going? Yep, I think there's a little more than ten percent.

I've been opening my back blinds letting the beautiful sun in during the afternoons. I can't do this during the summer months, it's just too hot. Abby found a perfect spot, albeit quite the odd position. We all thought it quite amusing. (Except the fact that she's on our place mats!) She just sat there and sunned with no mind to us. That is until Miss Bella decided Ab was getting too much attention and attacked her. Abby could almost crush her with a body slam, but she takes it. Not quietly though. She hisses and screams bloody murder. You'd think Bella was truly hurting her. She's not really.

Here's Miss Bell preparing to attack Dave. Now Dave, he fights back. He'll put her in head lock and bites. Serves her right. Bella has definitely sweetened up to us though. She thinks I'm her momma and she comes to me for love. She has to be held half of the day. I carry her around on my shoulder like a baby. She just purrs. She has really come in handy several times when my blood pressure, I'm sure, was out the roof. Love my babies. She looks a lot bigger in this picture than she truly is. She's still a lot smaller than Dave.

The hub made it to London safely. I'm green with envy here; but I know I made the right decision. Just too much going on to leave it. I sure did think twice on Sunday about going again. Sigh. I'm hoping to get together with Beth this week. We had set up a date for late tomorrow afternoon. That is, until I remembered (thank goodness) that the kid has religious ed classes on Wednesdays! That would have gone over well. This will be his third week, so it still hasn't sunk into my mental calendar yet. Anyway, we have tentatively set it back up for Friday--just got an email from her. Yay! I can't wait to see her and catch up.

Fingers' crossed the boys show up tomorrow and start knocking this stuff off the list. I wish it were only ten percent left. It's killin' me!

Not too much more to go, considering where things were a week ago! Hang in there! It's going to be worth it!
Love all the kitties, but Abby is extra charming today! LOL!

I know what you're going through with the remodel. One day it will be all completed, and you'll wake up and wonder why the kitchen guys aren't showing up anymore. Your kitty babies are just precious.

It will be so nice when the remodel is done, but the waiting is tough :P (my mother is an interior decorator, so growing up, I went thru 2 full remodels & watched 2 more after going out on my own)
When I saw the first picture of Abby, I thought "Oh look~ the cat is saying her prayers" :) Bella looks like a younger version of our Poppy- she & her sister Dahlia are always "fighting" (fur sure does fly) & chase after the old ladies- Shy Violet does the screaming bloody blue murder thing, but they never lay a paw on her :s
I'm in admiration of your restraint- I don't think I could have passed up a trip to London, regardless of my other commitments :(

I get lots of comments about how "big" Clarence is...he is about the size of your Abby...I was worried maybe I fed him too much.
The add is in the paper, I hope we can find him a good home...I'm so tired of my allegies and the meds run my blood pressure UP and I've cut back on petting and holding him as it makes my eyes swell now....

PS...I've gone private with my blog...let me know if you want an invite...

Love & Hugs to you!
