Unenlightenment

I have been so uninspired lately and have been wanting to start journaling or something, anything! I had found this wonderful house cut out and finally, today, I sat down and did my first page.

(WARNING: Rant On.) I have been feeling a lot of resentment towards so much ignorance in America these days; and I don't know where to turn except perhaps paper. It seems we are stepping back in time rather than moving forward and growing as a nation. There is an awful lot of hatred and divide growing here in the US, and I just can't seem to grasp the reasoning--other than the media stirring things up, as usual. I simply cannot understand, for the life of me, why people listen to one idea, or source, and run with it. Ask some questions. Look around and get some answers. For instance, when President Obama spoke to school children on the opening day of school, what kind of message did it send to these kids whose parents kept them home so they wouldn't listen to a message from the President? A speech that clearly--if they had looked into it before reacting--was educational and not political? Is it racism? Is it ignorance? What is it? Isn't this the next generation of Americans? I just don't understand where this country is going with this sort of mentality. And then when a United States Congressman yells out loud "You lie" to the President of the United States during the health care speech to the joint session of Congress, I was mortified. What is going on here? I don't normally rant about this stuff, but it has just been eating me up. Again, perhaps if I start journaling, I won't have to bother you with it. (Rant off.)

Anyhoo, in other stuff about the place, the kid found this old piece of stained glass that apparently I had never finished. It is quite crude and needs a whole lot of fixin' (like this country????--sorry). But I put it in the window anyway. One day.

I did skim through my Apartment Therapy and found some more great ideas, of course. Hangers. Simple hangers.

Perhaps these will inspire me to do something artsy rather than dwell on the unenlightenment of this country.

Ok, I'll shut up now.

I agree with you 100%! I'm appalled at the way people are jumping to conclusions and not taking the time to find out for themselves. I shudder to think where we're headed if this continues. The media is partly to blame but they wouldn't be able to do it if people weren't so eager to lap up everything they feed us. We don't have real news anymore. It's all personal opinions and gossip.

Trying to figure out what the h*** is going on in this country will give you a headache. I've turned the news off -- except to see the local weather. If something MAJOR happens, I'm sure someone will let me know! People don't seem to be able to think for themselves. And, we won't talk about common sense. That has really gone by the wayside. Frightening stuff. Don't get a headache!

I don't understand either. It was embarrassing, I thought-like Obama is some sort of evil mind bender.

I get people emailing me about nasty things Obama is saying or doing but if you check it out on Snopes, most if not all of it is false! His words keep being taken out of context and as you said the media is no help at all, they make everything worse. Why do people thrive on that? It's also very sad to see racism still exists today. I don't usually talk about politics either but this has really been bothering me.

What a beautiful piece that stained glass is! It may not be finished and you say it needs fixing but it looks great to me! lol

Those hangers are so adorable, love the heart at the top of them. Great idea to also use the skirt/pant hangers as a place to store ribbon rolls!!

Thank you for being such a great friend, dear Rosa. xoxo

First, love your page and glad you are being creative! Very pretty!

Second, I've been trying to deal with ribbon in my world. I have some suit hangers with removeable rods. Brilliant idea. (I had been thinking of tension rods in the window, but that seemed like a mess.)

Third, bravo on your comments. I get so frustrated and angry at people lately! I never mind civil dissent that is well founded in argument with some base. But this is ridiculous. And getting dangerous. My two cents!

My husband and I were just discussing this evening, the September 12th group of people that gathered in Washington D.C. We can't remember a time, since the 1960's, when we've seen such displays of bigotry and hatred as those directed towards our President. I believe President Obama is a good man, who wants the best for everyone, and I support him and his sincere efforts to try to work with both sides of the aisle to reach a resolution, but I also think that if people aren't willing to work together, then he is within his rights, as the elected President of this country to move forward the agenda on which he was elected,as best he can. Every day I think about him and his beautiful family, and I send good thoughts their way. It can't be easy, for any of them, and I'm proud of the grace with which they represent our country.

Your stained glass is very pretty, and I lvoe the hanger idea.

There is alot of things going on right now that are uncivil. A tennis star that threatens a judge, a rude rapper, and a idiot that hollers at our president. And the media makes sure every one knows about it every day, all day.
The healthcare issue is a tough one and I hope that it is handled in a good manner but its going to be a long haul. You can make some people happy some of the time, but you can't make them all happy, all the time. Just my two cents worth!
