This was in a little shop window on 51st Street, off Fifth. I loved the simpleness of it.
De Beer's diamonds were especially sparkly this year. The strobes, which I don't remember in years' past, were quite the attention grabbers! The House of Cartier is always one of my favorite buildings at Christmas. It always has a big red bow around it!
Now, continuing my stroll down Fifth, we're off to Saks Fifth Avenue! Obviously, they had a snowflake theme going this year. The windows were wonderfully whimsical! I wish I could post what was written on the windows. I hope you're able to read some of it from these horrible pics. It was so much fun watching the snowflake faeries in all their splendor! Loved them!! I was a kid again!! (Not that it takes much, as I'm sure you are aware by now!)
And then, there are always fashion windows available to gasp over. But, of course, dawlling. I can see myself in either of these outfits (NOT!). hehe. Now, my brother (food snob) and his wife could pull these outfits off with ease, no doubt.
Here's a peek back at Saks from Rockefeller Center. And a famous shot (of my husband, no doubt) from the front of Rockefeller.
I'm sure you all will recognize these next shots. Here's the infamous skating rink at Rockefeller Center. The tree was absolutely gorgeous this year, as always. Sigh. There's a big ol' open spot in the woods somewhere in Western Connecticut! This year's tree is 88 feet tall!
And what would Christmas be without decadent chocolates? And a little hairspray?
Oprah and Dave. (Dave is a must see if you plan ahead!)

Thanks for the memories! How I miss Christmas in NYC! And I once worked at Saks Fifth Avenue in Corporate Communications (a 30 percent discount on clothes was nice).
WOW! I had no idea Christmas in New York was so beautiful!
Thank you for this trip back to NYC. G surprised with a trip there for my 50th bday. Seeing as it was this time of year we actually had a little snow, took in all the glorious Christmas sights..Rockefeller Center, store displays...had my birthday meal at Tavern on the Green...carriage ride in Central Park(I know it's touristy but hey). It really is a city to get you in the mood for the season. The hustle and bustle and music and well...you know. I went back 2 more times but in October to meet some gals there...we had brunch at the Plaza dressed in Audrey outfits having come from Tiffany in them, we were noticed for sure!! All very fond memories.
sorry this is so long, your wonderful posts reminded me of it all.
XOXOXO
I felt what you posted about the Cathedral as I read your words.
