I went over to mom's to sit a spell and then all hell broke loose. (Well, not really.) We did have tornado warnings, especially in Nashville and points east. After the winds and rains slowed a little and I hit the road home. This was the sky as I left and there were a lot of downed tree limbs, but it wasn't that bad around us, thank goodness. Hope all my fellow Tennesseans faired as well.
I got home, gathered the men and we headed to get something sweet and decided on gelato. MMMM.
I had a scoop of the Dolce de Leche and a scoop of the Stracciatella (vanilla with chocolate pieces). You could have scooped me off the floor!
We then decided on chicken quesadillas for dinner and I whipped up a quick and easy batch of salsa from ATK cookbook. Needless to say, we all smell like onions now, even after watermelon.

Gelato makes my mouth water. I saw a great recipe (new BHG I think) for a cold watermelon soup (love watermelon). Glad you had no trouble with the storms. I really don't like tornado warnings ... no basements in our neck of the woods. Thanks for the recipe for the salsa.
You are such a good cook! Mmmmm salsa and homemade quesadillas. Nice work.
Have you ever had watermelon soup? I will be posting about it soon.
Aaahhhh, a perfect day! I'd love to taste one of those ice creams...
Cheers,
Rosa
Another stormy morning in West Nash,,but I don't mind the storms don't like tornadoes though. Thanks for the Salsa recipe.

I love the way you think - dessert then, if there's room - dinner.

Off to Italy in two and a half weeks when the watermelons will be in season down in Puglia. Off to Locorotondo market on the Friday to buy one which will last us the weekend :-)

Oh dear, tornado warnings...I guess it's that time of year for you guys! Hopefully none will affect you!!! Watermelon is one thing I cannot eat. When I was pregnant for Shawn, I got so sick after eating a couple of slices, I swore I would never eat it again. Now 31 years later I never have! lol
While in Niagara Falls, Steve & I always go to this little Italian ice cream place for a treat and the gelato is to die for...yummmm!!! Your salsa looks delish as well:-) xoxo
We had that storm, Rosa. We were driving to Gallatin (for a family thing last night). No problems for us --but the storm here blew our deck umbrella (which is VERY heavy) over. Luckily, other than some lilies being blown down we didn't have any damage. Whew!!!!
Sounds like you all had a great day. Your salsa sounds great.... Thanks!
Hugs,
Betsy
We don't live in tornado country and they scare the pants off me!! You're one brave lady to drive home with skies looking like that. sheesh.
I'm going to try your salsa recipe - it looks delicious.

I haven't seen clouds like those since I left Texas.
I'm glad the storms weren't too bad for you.
