Pulling it Together

Today, I began thinking about our trip. I printed out the itinerary, made sure everything matched up; and I finally feel like it's real. Started thinking about which clothes I will be taking, for me and the kid. Have to bring out our warmer clothes. Still not too cool here. It keeps going back and forth. I wish it would just get cool and stay that way.

I got 14 ATCs out in the mail today. Wow. I'll have to get back to work once I return and replenish my supply! I was totally delighted to see Ms*Robyn sign up to the Yahoo ATC group that I'm in. How fun is that. We have quite the blogger contingent there now. It's a wonderful group of lovely women; and I look forward to getting to know them a little better as time goes on. Thanks Beth!!

I finished another cigar box for a birthday coming up. I need to get it off before I leave because we'll be gone when the actual day arrives. Hopefully, I'll get that in the mail tomorrow. I've been a mailing fool! I also got a little package off to my niece in California today, in addition to all the ATCs to three different folks. I had found this pillow that was adorable. I had to mail something to her mother, so I just went and bought it and scrunched it up in the box. It's purple, which is her favorite color, so I know she will like it. Hopefully, she'll use it with the little nap pad and blankie I sent out for her birthday a month ago.

Got half the house straightened out today, so I feel better in that department. I can't stand it when everything is a mess. I keep adding to it though, so I have no one to blame but myself. I just wish I could snap my fingers and it would all be put away. No such luck. But it's done and it will stay that way. Tomorrow I need to get started in the luggage area. I'll pull the bags out and start really thinking about what to take with us. That's when I'll get really excited. I'm going to pack really light this time. I want to leave room for goodies! You know how that is. Since we'll be moving around quite a bit, only two to three days in each city, no one will notice if I wear the same clothes over and over again, right? I don't do fancy schamncy, for the most part, so I don't need to take any real dress-up clothes. And, get this, only one pair of shoes! Let's see if I can pull that off. I'll keep ya posted--wink wink.

The kid is beside himself. Is he the little traveler or what? Mr. English has given me the name of a good beer in Brussels, Carol (who was introduced to me by Mrs. Staggs) has given me some ideas on where to go in Bremen, and, of course, we will just have a hoot in Amsterdam! The kid and I will spend a couple of days in Zurich without the hub; so that will be a nice peaceful visit. I haven't been there in over 20 years--about 16 for Geneva. Geneva is very easy to get around. Zurich, if still the same, is so quaint with its honor-system trolleys taking you about the city. On our honeymoon, I got stuck at a sweet shop. I bought too much and didn't have enough cash to pay (hehe). I had to call the hotel and leave a message for the hub with directions on which trolley to take and to meet me there. (He was conducting some business, of course.) I felt like Lucy!! How embarrassing. I just sat with a cup of coffee and waited for him, patiently. He was quite impressed with his little bride at how well I got around town on my own--first time in Europe! He wasn't impressed with how much chocolate I was sending back to everyone in the states!! He should of packed up and ran while he had the chance! ha. I'll have to try and find that shop. I love showing the kid around to the places the hub and I went to on our honeymoon. I took him to our little whole-in-the-wall Italian restaurant in London one night when the hub was working. Such fond memories--both of the honeymoon and showing the kid.

Can you tell I'm beginning to get excited?

I hope that your preparations are getting on ok, Rosa...
The weather in Switzerland is a bit poor at the moment (rain & grey), but it is quite warm (21°-24° C). Regarding Zurich, the blue trams (trolleys) are still there. The town has changed a little (renovated train station, new buildings, new trains, etc...), but I guess that it still looks the same. Regarding Geneva, my town has also changed a lot (many new tram lines and new trams, new buildings, renovated streets, etc...). I'm sure that you'll have a lot of pleasure while rediscovering both places!...

oh my gosh who wouldn't be excited with all that coming up! I envy your travels and yearn to do some as well. When we went to France you would be amazed at what came home in our luggage, including 2 small lamps!!! Oh the treasures you will hopefully stumble upon! one pair of shoes eh? if they are comfy it can be done, but hmmm, let's see if that really happens. heehee
XOXO

I am so glad I joined the yahoo group!

Rosa

I have been working a lot in Zurich the last several years (see google for blog entries) and the honour system is enforced by regular spot checks. Threesomes of "revenue protection officers" cruise the trams with on-the-spot fines of 60 CHF (50 USD) for those without tickets.

For something different try Europe's oldest vegetarinan restaurant.

Toodle-pip!

I have had such trouble getting to your site. Sometimes, when I finally arrive, it totally shuts down AOL and I have to reboot. Don't know what is going on but I hope you have a great time in Switzerland. Let me know if you are coming to Paris!
