I woke up this morning with a full-fledged head cold. Not feeling the greatest but thankful that my body waited until I got home before it hit.
I've been running around unpacking and straightening up the house. I went into the guest room for something and found mom's gorgeous Christmas cacti in full bloom! What beauty to behold. I have never had Christmas cactus ever re-bloom!
She had these for a couple of years and I moved them upstairs where I would hopefully tend to them. Guess I did.
But, this has to be the best ever. I now put cinnamon in my coffee each morning. Amy's mom, Polly, said it's good for the cholesterol. I'm game. What a delight finding this sign first thing this morning.

Happy belated Birthday. Sorry you got the flu that is going around and I hope it is gone quickly. I enjoyed looking at your trip. Looks like it was fun.
I've learned that Christmas Cactus sort of care for themselves! I noticed that mine are setting blooms -- hopefully will be in glory by Christmas. How neat is that heart in your coffee! Someone is taking care of you. :D :D :D
What a pretty cactus!
Cheers and have a wonderful week,
Rosa
Mama's sending you love!!!!! XXOO~A
Hi Rosemary, Welcome home.. Sounds like you had a wonderful time in VA. But--I know about 'catching up'... It's the pitts... ha
When it comes to Christmas cactus, it's all about the lighting... They never need much water --and you are supposed to put them in a shady place in the summer and let them sorta go dormant.
Yours is gorgeous.
Hugs,
Betsy
Oops---forgot to say Happy Birthday..
Hugs,

I came to your blog after reading a post that Robin at Thrifty Miss Priss did where she mentioned both of us because we had just lost our mothers to Alzheimer's. First allow me to extend my heartfelt sympathy to you. After reading some of your posts I was thinking that I should comment when I saw that your mom was also born in February of 1924 and passed away in October. (same as my mom on both counts). But, when I came to visit today and saw this Christmas cactus I knew I had to comment. I have my mom's cactus sitting on my kitchen counter in full bloom right now. It looks identical to yours. It's nice to have something pretty to look at and be reminded of mom.
Anyhow, I hope you are feeling better soon.

Hey Rosie,,,I sure hate to hear you have a cold. You take care of yourself. Get better soon so we can get together and do something fun! I Love Chrismas cactus,,mine is blooming right now too. And what a wonderful sign in your coffee. I should try the cinnamon in the coffee.
Feel better!

So sorry about the cold. What a beautiful welcome home surprise -- I can't grow Christmas cactus to save my soul -- this is awesome.
Love and you'll be loved. Yep, that's how it works and that's why you attract so much.
xoxo from across the miles!
