Well, it's almost time. I have all the bags packed, mostly. The last couple of items are on the stairs waiting to go up. (PS Two pair of shoes--oh well.) I have all my itineraries out with my originals to make sure I don't have any typos -- wouldn't that be just like me to transform some numbers and go to the wrong place on the wrong day. hehe.
The kid is so excited, totally exhausted, but excited. I'm sure they worked him hard today with make-up work and all. Mom is doing well. She usually is quite anxious when we leave. I know having her "baby" here (the teenager) makes everything fine. She has my cell phone so I can call her every day and check up (on the teenager!) how things are going. Her meds have been set out for her for two weeks (just covering myself). We just got back from grocery shopping so she has lots of food to eat. I have a lady coming in the beginning of the week to take her out to lunch then the teenager will be off on Fall Break and will take her out the rest of the time. I think I have her pretty much covered.
Rosa of Rosa's Yummy Yums has been a tremendous help. She lives in Geneva and has given me names of chocolatiers, where to look for art supplies, where to sit and have coffee looking over Lake Geneva. Thank you Rosa! What a sweetheart.
I've been working on my high school German (a LONG time ago!)--trying to pull the cobwebs out of this old noggin' of mine (saving them for Halloween). I can't believe how much I have forgotten! Gee whiz, it's hard getting old. I've been trying to teach the kid a few essential words--danke, bitte, ja, nein, wie gehts, guten tag. Oh, I loved German. Trying to get a little Dutch and Flemish down too.
I picked up a little book on Amsterdam (our first adventure). I am dying to be in the same room as Van Gogh's paintings, waling through Rembrandt's hood and visiting little Anne Frank's house (sniffle sniffle). I've explained The Red Light District to the kid. He knew about "pimps and ho's" through the older brother. Lovely. One day he asked me what "Pimp Juice" was. (A friend of the teenager's was over here using his cologne!) First I had to explain what pimp was and then tell him that pimp juice is just cologne. The way kids talk these days! Lord!
If you could, please say prayers for Tammy. She is still having a rough go of it and needs our support. She will be in my thoughts and prayers while I am away.
I will have the hub's computer (which is nano-fast!) so I should be able to post at least a few goodies while I'm gone. Keep your eyes out for "Traveling with Rosa." (I almost started my blog with that name--but I changed it. I don't travel THAT much!)
Ok, I'm outta here! !Auf wiedersehen!
