Introducing OUR Riverhouse

Yes indeedy, it's official. We are now the proud owners of the Riverhouse! What a relief having that behind us. I have never, in all my life, had to jump through hoops as much as this for anything! Not even for my husband. hehe.

Ok, now I need your assistance. We need to come up with a name for the humble abode. Riverhouse just doesn't have the proper ring to it. We've come up with Riverpoint, River Glen, River Marsh, Fish House, Fish River House (it's on the Fish River in Fairhope, Alabama), Riverside, Riverview, River's Edge. Doesn't every house need a perfect name? So, help! I need some more suggestions.

If we use your name, I'll send you a little thank you gift. How's that for bribing?? hehe.

Now, where did I put that darn scuba gear?!

  7. That is a wonderful house, you could fit our little cottage twice into it and then some!

I'm hopeless with names, but I will suggest 'Evenlode' after the Evenlode river which runs through our bit of the Cotswolds, and eventually into the Thames - it is such a gentle name, and reminds me of golden sunshine.

  9. WOWOWOWOW! It's absolutely beautiful! I am so happy for you and the hubs finally getting through all those hoops! I swear 2 of my house could fit in it! I can't wait to see inside photos!!
As for the name, well I frankly like River's Edge. It sort of made me think of Howard's End. Like in a conversation "oh yes, the family and I are going to River's Edge this weekend". Or "we're going to River's Edge to move some furniture" or "the kids had a great time at River's Edge". It flows perfectly. That's my vote anyway!
WOW, I can't stop looking at it!
    XOXO
    Love,

  12. What a fantastic house, so amazing. You must be so please. A house by the river, I think the name has to be Bliss. That's exactly what popped into my head when I saw the photo.

    Rosa:
Glad to hear that Mom is doing well and is up and about.
I have thought of several names for your "new home away from home:
    May I suggest:
    RiverRosa (a name inspired by the beautiful person that fought so diligently to acquire the lovely place;
Serenity (I captured this thought after looking at the photo of it and thought only of the serene setting on the river) and then my last suggestion is either "Bama's Best or "Bamahaven" (of course as in Alabama")
Good luck with all that you have ahead of you to get your lovely new place ready for the Spring.
    Love,
    MJ

  21. I could just call it Home and be down with it. Lucky ducks!!!

  22. Congratulations. I presume it is a weekend / vaction home. I must have missed the back story, sorry. Anyway how about "Falling Water" after the Frank LLoyd Wright building of the same name.

I know the water doesn't fall but that's the point. I have a thing about house names that state the bl**ding obvious - Yew Tree Cottage 'cos it has a yew tree in the garden. Even Avon Cottage because it was by the River Avon.

Or how about "Sea View". Or "Baba Yaga" because she had a hut on legs.

    Toodle-pip!

  23. It's wonderful! How about calling it Dianne's Vacation Home? No? I tried. That's a hint, by the way.

Your family is going to create wonderful memories there. What a lucky woman you are!

    Get well soon.

Well, the Husband and I call our lake cabin the LoveShak. And, since you love the B52s so much, you should consider it. Anyway, Mom told me that the place came through. Can't wait to visit!
